Colony Animal Hospital – Over 60 Years in Business

Colony Animal Hospital first opened its doors for business in 1961. Founded by Dr. James Howard, the hospital is a full-service veterinary clinic and surgical center that provides compassionate and personalized care with the aim of helping pets live longer and healthier lives.

During its 60 plus years in business, the hospital has remained in its original location at 13187 Warwick Boulevard. Colony provides veterinary care to dogs, cats, and exotic pets, having cared for ducks, guinea pigs, ferrets, bearded dragons, geckos, and more. The staff of fifteen employees and three doctors offer a wide range of services for its patients including vaccinations, diagnostics, dental care, microchipping, surgery, and boarding.

Colony Animal Hospital is a state-of-the-art facility with a treatment area that contains an ICU with individual climate-controlled cages, four treatment stations, a pharmacy, and an imaging room with a digital dental x-ray unit. It also has a surgical suite with Bluetooth wireless surgical monitoring equipment and an ultrasound unit.

Staying up-to-date in such a shifting industry is an important focus for the hospital. To meet that standard, Colony has been accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) since 1967 – only 15% of veterinary practices in the United States and Canada hold the AAHA-accredited designation.
