James River Auto Sales Drives Small Business Growth Along Warwick Boulevard
October 20, 2026Newport News’ small business community continues to grow with the addition of Village Studio Arts, a woman-owned, community-focused art studio located in Warwick Shopping Center at 10842 Warwick Blvd. Offering hands-on creative experiences for children, teens, adults and homeschool students, the studio adds to the city’s diverse mix of locally owned businesses while creating new opportunities for arts education and community engagement.
Owned and operated by Camille Donne, Village Studio Arts combines professional art instruction with a welcoming environment where individuals of all ages and abilities can explore their creativity, develop new skills and connect with others.
Donne brings extensive experience in both art and education to her business. She studied psychology and fine arts at Christopher Newport University and later worked as a costumed interpreter at Colonial Williamsburg. Her professional background also includes classroom teaching and serving as Education Director at the Peninsula Fine Arts Center. As a licensed PreK–6 classroom teacher and K–12 visual arts teacher, Donne brings a strong educational foundation to the studio’s emphasis on hands-on learning and creative exploration.
Pottery is at the heart of Village Studio Arts’ offerings, with instruction in hand-building techniques and throwing on the potter’s wheel. Beginner and advanced classes accommodate a range of skill levels, while open studio sessions and membership options provide experienced potters with dedicated space to pursue their craft independently.
Beyond pottery, the studio offers drawing, painting, needle felting, printmaking and other creative disciplines. Its homeschool art and STEAM programs serve students ages 5 to 17, introducing young learners to different artists, techniques and mediums through age-appropriate instruction.
Village Studio Arts also hosts birthday parties and private events, providing families and groups with a creative setting to gather, learn and celebrate. The studio’s supportive, approachable atmosphere encourages participants to experiment, socialize and take pride in their creations.
As a locally owned business, Village Studio Arts contributes to the vitality of Newport News’ commercial corridors, bringing a distinctive experiential offering to Warwick Shopping Center. Its combination of arts education, family-friendly programming and creative gathering opportunities enhances the variety of services available to residents while reinforcing the important role small businesses play in creating vibrant, connected communities.
Residents are encouraged to discover the studio, explore its classes and support this growing part of Newport News’ small business community.
