Coastal Seafood is the Seafood Industrial Park’s newest seafood tenant and is making a splash in the East Coast oyster industry. What started as a conversation between childhood friends a few years ago, has flourished into a hub of activity in the Southeast community. Kevin and James Heyman have paired their business savvy with Mike Casey’s seafood experience to offer a quality product shipped out daily to restaurants and other markets.
Coastal Seafood obtained a lease at the park from the City and purchased the building at 801 Jefferson Avenue from its former owner, with plans to renovate and outfit the building, which previously served as storage for many years. Today, the building has been transformed into a welcoming site for customers and guests to the busy seafood port located near the southern end of Jefferson Avenue. What was once a quiet, dormant building is now full of the sounds of eighteen employees busy processing the oyster catches arriving daily at the dock of Coastal Seafood. The company plans to hire additional employees to expand their product offerings.
