Powers Business Machines, Inc. was established by Connie and Joan Powers in 1970. The business originally opened near Main Street in Hilton and then moved to its current location at 9701 Warwick Boulevard in 1978. Powers started by repairing typewriters, calculators, and shredders but later expanded to sell all types of office equipment including copiers, fax machines, printers, and shredders as well as office supplies and furniture. Powers Business Machines employs 15 people and is now operated by Donna and Kenny Wells.powers

Offering quality products and exceptional customer service to clients has been paramount to the business’s longevity. Powers Business Machines offers a full spectrum of office supplies and equipment. They provide supplies and repair services to local and state government agencies, schools, churches, doctor’s offices, and private businesses on the peninsula, southside, Richmond and parts of North Carolina.

Powers Business Machines is one of three authorized Sharp Electronics Dealers in the Hampton Roads Region, and the only one located on the peninsula. They have received numerous awards for sales and service such as the “Hyakuman Kai” Award for outstanding achievement for copiers.

With 48 years in business, the company believes in being an active community partner. They support numerous local charities and partner with community organizations such as Toys for Tots, YMCA, local high school sports and youth sports programs.
