Since 1983, SOLO, a worldwide leader in the production of backpack, handheld and one-hand compression sprayers, has been based in Copeland Industrial Park. As the company became more successful, it outgrew its 53,000-square-foot space at 5100 Chestnut Avenue. SOLO’s management team (locally and in Germany) maintained a relationship with City staff, and with their strong desire to remain in Newport News, they chose to purchase a 64,000-square-foot facility with adjacent expansion acreage at 201 Enterprise Drive in Oakland Industrial Park. This expansion will allow SOLO to maximize production and efficiency while continuing to call Newport News home.
