Saffron Mediterranean Cuisine

Saffron Mediterranean Cuisine opened its doors in the Hilton Village area of Newport News in June of 2015. Unique from the typical Mediterranean restaurant, Saffron serves a diverse menu of kabobs, stews, wraps, and rice dishes influenced by traditional Iranian, Turkish, and Afghani cuisine. The menu offers gluten free, vegetarian, vegan, fish, and meat options, all flavored with characteristic spices of the Mediterranean. One of the most popular items is doogh, a homemade Persian drink made with yogurt, cucumbers, and mint. In addition to family-style indoor and outdoor dining, Saffron also offers take-out and catering services.

Saffron is an award-winning restaurant and is highly rated on Facebook, Trip Advisors, and Yelp. Last year, Saffron was rated the best restaurant in Newport News by Restaurant.com. Owner David Amiri not only serves quality Mediterranean cuisine, but notably supports different causes in the community as well. He has donated food for fundraisers in support of organizations such as, the American Cancer Society, The Mariners’ Museum, and the Woman’s Club of Hilton Village.
