Meze’s Food Mart

Meze’s Food Mart is a retail convenience and gas store located at 453 Denbigh Boulevard. The family-owned store first opened its doors in December 2010. Michelet Meze along with his wife, Celia, and their three children play a major role in the store’s daily operations.

Michelet is a native of Haiti and he helped establish schools and served as a teacher before coming to the United States in 2000 to begin a career working for a major automotive manufacturer in Connecticut. As time went on, he explored entrepreneurial opportunities, made the decision to become a Sunoco dealer and relocated to Newport News.

When the business opened, its primary product was gasoline and in 2017, Meze expanded by building a new store. In addition to gas, the store sells a variety of items including snack foods, groceries, soft drinks, toiletries, automotive supplies, and tobacco products. The store also sells hot foods and offers a quick service restaurant concept called Krispy Krunchy Chicken.
