Florence Kingston Recognized by Hampton Roads Alliance

In the City of Newport News, VA – Government Florence Kingston, Director of Development since 2003, has applied her unstoppable energy and enthusiasm to local economic development for the past 40 years. She has overseen and directly negotiated many of the transformative projects that are shaping Newport News as a vibrant, viable, business-friendly city. As director, she fosters and inspires a culture of thinking big and planning big, within her department, among city leadership, and as Secretary/Treasurer of the Newport News Economic Development Authority, compelling all to compete on a global playing field. In 2019, she was honored by the Virginia Economic Developers Association with its prestigious Cardinal Award, which recognizes leadership in the field of economic development, outstanding professional accomplishments, and exceptional service to the organization.

Like many of her peers, Florence believes the future of Hampton Roads relies on continued collaboration and on each locality perserving their unique strengths and style.
