Dominion Physical Therapy

Dominion Physical Therapy

In June of this year, Dominion Physical Therapy celebrated its 30th anniversary here in Newport News. Founded by Dr. Allen Jones, Jr., Dominion offers a full range of physical therapy services to individuals, employers and institutions.

While specializing in the treatment of neck and back pain, sports and personal injuries and many other musculoskeletal conditions, as well as work-related injuries, Dominion Physical Therapy also opened the first pediatric clinic in Newport News in 1997 for patients from infancy to age 21. Dominion has continued to build upon its success over the years and has expand its services to include offices in Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Portsmouth and Hampton.

Dr. Jones was born and raised in Greenville, Mississippi, where he learned important business lessons while working alongside his parents in their family-owned grocery store. This knowledge and experience in entrepreneurship that he acquired proved to be valuable and would serve as a foundation for his future business endeavors. After receiving his degree in physical therapy from the University of Connecticut and relocating to Virginia in 1987, Dr. Jones opened the doors to Dominion Physical Therapy three years later.

After many years in business, the company still believes in playing an active role in the community. Dominion’s motto is “we are blessed to do what we love and be able to give back to the community.” As a way to support local students, it has provided 12 Doctorate of Physical Therapy scholarships to both Hampton University and Old Dominion University second year Physical Therapy Candidates. They also support community based organizations such as the Virginia Peninsula Foodbank, the American Cancer Society, American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, and Transitions Family Violence Services.
