The City of Newport News was named a gold winner at the National League of Cities’ (NLC) 2010 Awards for Municipal Excellence at the NLC Conference in Denver, Colorado. The Awards for Municipal Excellence recognizes cities and towns for outstanding programs that improve the quality of life in America’s communities. The City won the gold award in the 150,001-500,000 population category and was recognized for outreach to strengthen ties with the Hispanic community.
