n 2013, Doug and Polly White were on a business trip in Denver when they toured a cool, new concept – coworking. Coworking is a group of different organizations that share a common workspace and amenities, such as conference rooms, printing and scanning, breakrooms, kitchens, etc.. Doug and Polly turned their 45-minute tour into a business, Gather, and opened their first coworking space in Richmond in 2014. Earlier this year, they opened their Newport News location at 700 Tech Center Parkway. With a location in Norfolk and three in the Richmond area, Gather will add another Richmond space in 2020, along with a location in Virginia Beach.
The mission of Gather is to transform how start-ups, freelancers, entrepreneurs and large business organizations get work done. The services are designed to assist small businesses looking for an office to rent, a remote worker who needs a dedicated desk away from corporate headquarters, or an enterprise client looking to expand or place a creative team. Gather locations offer a range of collaborative spaces and private offices where individuals can meet, network and grow their business. Gather prides itself on creating communities that provide spaces where people are happy, productive and want to work.
