The magazine’s annual Gold & Silver Shovel Awards honor states for their endeavors in attracting high-value investment projects that will create a significant number of new jobs. Newport News was recognized as a Silver winner for the Canon Virginia expansion, resulting in $623 million in investment and over 1,000 new jobs.
