Rebounderz
March 17, 2017In 2016, EDA staff continued its close collaboration with the master developer of the Patrick Henry Place mixed-use development, Gibraltar Capital and Asset Management, as it began construction on the vital Freedom Way bridge and gained approvals on site plans for apartment buildings to be constructed in 2017 and 2018. The EDA’s instrumental participation in ensuring the successful continuation of this highly-visible mixed-use development has included supporting Gibraltar’s proffered commitment to build a bridge and install other connected infrastructure improvements to link the development’s residential section directly to Jefferson Avenue. A new recreational trail system was completed in 2016 and is being enjoyed by existing condominium residents, and Gibraltar also completed upgrades to the on-site sewer pump station in anticipation of the emergence of hundreds of new housing units. The City looks forward to the review and approval of a set of townhome building plans to join the residential mix and add to Patrick Henry Place’s success as an attractive place to live in the heart of Newport News.
