Located at 445 Oriana Rd, Unit 14, in the Newport Crossing Shopping Center, it was founded by Chrissie Harvey in October 2024. The studio marks an exciting milestone for her as she opens her first location.
For Chrissie Harvey, Limelight 8 represents a full-circle moment in her career. A lifelong dancer who began classes as a child, Chrissie continued her dance training through college while also exploring theatrical performances. With a master’s degree in film and television, she taught dance classes on military installations and continued her work after relocating to Newport News when her husband was assigned to Ft. Eustis. Inspired by her passion for both film and dance, Chrissie decided to combine these interests and open Limelight 8.
Limelight 8 is a unique performing arts studio that specializes in training dancers and actors for on-screen performances.
The studio’s innovative approach bridges the gap between stage and screen, offering a curriculum that blends traditional dance and acting techniques with film production skills. In addition to dance, the studio provides classes in movie-making and acting for both children and adults.
Limelight 8 features a full green screen room, Netflix-approved cameras, editing software, sound equipment, backdrops, props, and modular floors that can be rearranged to create various sets. The studio offers a one-of-a-kind space for performers to hone their craft and prepare for the world of cinematic storytelling.
