July 25, 2022We Make Business Work – 2022 Message from the Chair
January 13, 2023The owners of Cure Coffeehouse, Chris Shelton and Mike Aston, believe coffee shops are where relationships are built, friendships flourish, and creativity can thrive. They’ve worked to create a prospering business model that offers a welcoming and enjoyable experience for guests while providing a positive work environment for staff.
Shelton and Aston both grew up in Smithfield and were friends in high school. One afternoon in 2010, the friends made homemade pastrami reuben sandwiches. The sandwiches were so good, they had the idea to create a business. They opened their first café in Norfolk in 2011 and have since expanded to include locations in Smithfield, Portsmouth, and now Newport News.
The café style eatery is located at 706 Town Center Drive, Suite 104 in City Center. Cure offers a variety of handcrafted beverages, gourmet fare, and bakery goods. They use the freshest ingredients, with the goal of making as many items as possible from scratch.
The eatery is also known for its coffee program. They exclusively serve Counter Culture Coffee, one of the most respected regional roasters in the country. Cure’s baristas are trained through Counter Culture’s Counter Intelligence Education Program, resulting in high quality, professionally prepared coffee and espresso drinks. They also offer cupping and tasting events to give everyone an opportunity to understand the great complexities that go into each cup.
Cure strives for excellence and values community, service, and quality goods. To learn more, visit curecoffeehouse.com.
