Beginnings Academy of Learning is a licensed child day care center that was opened by Dr. Amanda Sargent-Lewis in November of 2008. Dr. Sargent-Lewis started with a location in Denbigh at 400 Sharon Drive and opened a second location at 2815 Chestnut Avenue in 2012. Beginnings Academy of Learning has 15 employees on staff that are committed to helping their children grow.begin academy
The Academy offers child care services for children from six weeks to twelve years of age and works to cater services to each individual child’s needs. They also offer a before and after school program for all school age children. The programs at Beginnings are age appropriate and utilize specialized curriculum for each class.
School readiness is a key focus for their program and teachers work hard to make every experience educational. The school age program offers children the opportunity to work on special assignments focused on varying subject matter, such as geography, and hold group meetings that teach communication skills and allows the children to share their experiences with each other. They also do field trips for children ages 3 and up, including visits to locations such as local parks, movie theaters, the Virginia Living Museum, and Gymnastics
