Through years of personal experience and astute observation, owner John Yates recognized gaps in patient transportation service and saw an opportunity to improve the overall patient experience. Building a successful business here in Newport News, it’s grown to be one of the largest EMS providers in Virginia.
This family-owned medical transportation company dedicated to delivering compassionate, patient-centered care is located at 12685 McManus Blvd., the company is owned and operated by John Yates.
A native of Richmond, Virginia, Mr. Yates served in the United States Army before beginning a career in the construction industry. Inspired by his parents, who were both nurses, he transitioned into the medical field as a sales representative. Through years of experience and observation, John recognized gaps in patient transportation services and saw an opportunity to improve the overall patient experience.
In 2021, with the support of his wife and sons, John launched Hospital To Home from his dining room table. What began as a non-emergency medical transportation service has since grown into one of the largest EMS providers in Virginia.
Today, the company offers a full range of services, including
- Non-emergency transportation
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Life Support (ALS) units staffed by paramedics and emergency medical technicians
- Organ procurement transport
- Home ramp installation
Hospital To Home also invests in workforce development by providing in-house Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) training classes.
