Custom welding, trailer repair & CNC plasma cutting shop growing positive impact in the region

KB Fabrication

Custom welding and fabrication shop located at 95 Tyler Ave., Suite L, quickly established itself as a trusted name in the Hampton Roads region since opening in 2023. Founded by Newport News native Travis Mowery, the family operated business reflects both a lifelong passion for metalwork and a commitment to serving the local community.

Mowery’s interest in fabrication began early. Growing up, he spent countless hours alongside his father and grandfather, working on automotive projects and anything with an engine. Those experiences sparked not only a love for hands on work but also a vision. One day, he would build a business of his own centered around that passion.

After high school, Mowery’s path took an unexpected turn when he moved to New Orleans and joined a racing team, eventually becoming a professional monster truck driver. His career quickly gained momentum, taking him across the country and around the world to perform for large crowds. While the experience was exciting, the demanding schedule of nearly 40 weeks a year on the road became increasingly difficult as he started a family.

Wanting to be more present at home, Mowery decided to step away from life on the road and revisit his long held goal of entrepreneurship. In 2023, that vision became a reality with the launch of KB Fabrication.

Today, KB Fabrication offers a wide range of services for residential, commercial, and industrial clients.

  • welding
  • trailer repair
  • CNC plasma cutting

The shop works with materials such as carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum, and handles projects ranging from handrails and gates to fully customized metalwork. By utilizing advanced CNC plasma cutting technology, KB Fabrication delivers precise, intricate designs with high accuracy and consistency.

Looking ahead, KB Fabrication aims to continue growing its presence in Newport News while building partnerships with other local businesses and community organizations. With a strong foundation rooted in family values and craftsmanship, the company is focused on creating a lasting impact in the region.
