The Newport News Economic Development Authority, in conjunction with the Peninsula Airport Commission, the Virginia Economic Development Partnership and the Hampton Roads Economic Development Alliance jointly announced the consolidation of Orion Air Group at Air Commerce Park. Orion is a world leader in operations that include aircraft charter and management, sales and leasing, aviation insurance and financial services, and aircraft maintenance and modifications for government and commercial clients. Orion plans to construct a 12,000 square foot office corporate headquarters and adjacent 22,000 square foot hangar facility, representing a minimum $4 million capital investment, retention of 57 jobs currently in York County and Newport News, and creation of 51 new jobs. The Virginia Department of Business Assistance will provide training assistance through the Virginia Jobs Investment Program.
