2022 Strategic Redevelopment
January 13, 20232022 Partnerships
January 13, 2023There’s nothing we at the EDA love more than seeing our City evolve and thrive. We put a lot of energy into acquiring and redeveloping deteriorating properties, as well as guiding businesses towards City and state incentives as they create new offerings for our residents and economy.
The EDA took part in a beam signing celebration to mark the significant progress being made on Building Two at Tech Center Research Park. Also in attendance were officials from Virginia Tech, W.M. Jordan and the City. The 80,000-square-foot Building Two will include office space with flexible leasing options, access to research-grade internet connectivity, co-working and Tech Center collaborative amenities. Future plans for Tech Center Research Park, a cutting-edge, multi-use development which boasts retail, dining, fitness and living spaces will include an open drill field green space and an amphitheater for entertainment.
Big things are also happening across town in the Southeast Community. In July 2022, EDA staff helped lead a tour for members of the Virginia Peninsula Association of Realtors. Nearly 60 people joined the tour, which highlighted the investments that the City, EDA and partners are making in the Southeast Community, including the Choice Neighborhood Initiative area. Several EDA projects were showcased including Brooks Crossing, Brooks Crossing Innovation and Opportunity Center and 2510 Jefferson Avenue. The group also made a stop at The Offices @ Two Five & J. It was a special opportunity to share the EDA’s work and bring new attention to transformations within the community.
