Newport News Department of Development
Expands/diversifies the City’s tax base by attracting new businesses and is also responsible for creating new jobs, retaining existing jobs and helping existing businesses to expand.
Center for Innovative Technology
CIT seeks to close innovation gaps in the Commonwealth and the nation by focusing on new technologies, entrepreneurs and technology companies that make innovation happen.
Future of Hampton Roads – Mentoring for Emerging Companies
A new program in conjunction with Future of Hampton Roads, designed to provide an advanced level of expertise and support to entrepreneurs and businesses
Hampton Roads Procurement Assistance Center
Exists to assist area businesses in establishing themselves to bid competitively on federal, state, and local government contracts.
Hampton Roads Small Business Development Center
Contributes to the growth and development of the economy by providing management, technical and other assistance and information to the Hampton Roads region’s small business community.
A nonprofit association dedicated to educating entrepreneurs and helping small business start, grow and succeed nationwide.
Member-driven association which promotes the healthy growth of retail merchants throughout Hampton Roads and Northeastern North Carolina.

Provides support to small businesses and small-business owners across the nation.
Virginia Department of Business Assistance One Stop
Virginia’s Business One Stop was launched in May of 2008 to assist entrepreneurs in obtaining the information and completing the steps required to register their business.
Virginia Department of Business Assistance Small Business Seminars
Offers numerous workshops on starting your business and growing your sales, as well as training on social media and using the iPad for business, financing programs and workforce incentives
Virginia Peninsula Chamber of Commerce
Advocates and supports the economic and business interests of the Virginia Peninsula and the Region and believes that more can be accomplished on behalf of business and the community through collaboration, communication and cooperation.
The Apprentice School
Founded in 1919, the Apprentice School at Newport News Shipbuilding offers four-, five- and eight-year apprenticeships in nineteen shipbuilding disciplines and eight advanced studies. Apprentices can earn college credits while learning a valuable trade.
Tech Center Research Park
The Tech Center Research Park, located on 50 acres adjacent to the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility in Newport News, provides collaborative space where high-tech companies can carry out advanced research.
