Piggly Wiggly Hosts Grand Opening to Celebrate New Store in Brooks Crossing

On June 27, we celebrated the grand opening for the new Piggly Wiggly store located at 3101 Jefferson Avenue in Brooks Crossing. Though it is the first Piggly Wiggly on the Peninsula, owner Bert Harrell of Harrell & Harrell, Inc. has operated one at a location in Norfolk since 2013. With a tagline of “Down Home, Down the Street,” Piggly Wiggly was founded in Memphis, Tennessee in 1916. Expanding beyond its southern roots, the company issues franchises to independently-owned stores, which are currently operating in 530 communities across 17 states. The brand is widely known for its variety of meat, prepared foods and customer service. In addition to typical grocery offerings, the store also features a full-service BayPort Credit Union and a community room.
