If you have ever called to track a UPS package, chances are you have talked to one of the people who works at the UPS regional call center facility on Warwick Boulevard. Operated by Expert Global Solutions (EGS), the Newport News facility continues to see growth in the number of employees, as well as UPS investment in the facility. In working with the company to ensure adequate parking for employees, the Authority undertook a project to improve parking on the site. The improved lot provides 176 spaces immediately adjacent to one of the main employee entrances. In addition to convenience, the new parking lot area includes substantial lighting upgrades designed to improve safety for employees. Site improvements were also made to other on-site parking areas and stormwater features. Upon completion of improvements, the sale of the facility and site to UPS was completed at year-end, notably retaining over 700 jobs in Newport News, over 90% of which are held by Newport News residents.
